Book Bag Program

A program to support book groups in our state.

The New Hampshire Book Bag Program is a project of the Center for the Book at the New Hampshire State Library in partnership with New Hampshire Humanities.

This program provides collections of literature to book discussion groups in New England (first preference is given to New Hampshire readers). Over 200 titles, in quantities that vary from 10 to 40 copies, are available through the program.

Eligibility

Representatives of nonprofit agencies (e.g. libraries, nursing homes, and senior centers) may request New Hampshire Book Bag service. New Hampshire libraries are given first consideration when booking Book Bag titles.

Deliveries in New Hampshire are by New Hampshire State Library van service only. Customers without van service must make arrangements with a van service library, or pick up Book Bag books at the State Library.

Groups from out of state using the service must pay shipping and insurance both ways.

List of Book Bag Titles Available

NHSL staff is currently working on updating this collection and the title lists may change as we go along.

The Book Bag Book List indicated how many copies there are of each title. For more details on the titles check out the lists sorted by audience in the box on the right side of this page.

Note: Most of the older titles in the list are mass-market paperbacks and probably have small print. You may want to check ahead so we may get a copy and see if the print size is adequate for the group requesting the title.
