NH State Librarian – Michael York

Michael York has served as the New Hampshire State Librarian since 1999. A native of Newton, MA, he is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, with a Master of Library Science degree from Louisiana State University and a master of business administration from Plymouth State College. A resident of Goffstown, he is a former dean of libraries at the University of New Hampshire in Durham and was Librarian at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH.

Michael was the recipient of the 2022 Emerson Greenaway Award for Outstanding Contributions to Librarianship from the New England Library Association. He serves and has served on numerous library-related boards and committees including the New Hampshire Library Association, the New England Library Association, the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled, Chief Officers of State Library Agencies and the Northeast Document Conservation Center.
