Large Print Collection

Information about the NHSL large print collection which is available to NH readers via interlibrary loan.

Large print books are available via interlibrary loan from your public library and directly to patrons of NH Talking Books.

The large print collection is housed in the Talking Books section of the NHSL and was funded, in part, by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, American Rescue Plan Act funds from 2021 and a generous bequest to Talking Books.

Large Print Titles New to the NHSL Collection

In addition to borrowing individual titles via ILL, NH Public Libraries may request a set of LP books to display in their library for their patrons to borrow. To request a set of Large Print Books contact Deb Dutcher or Mary Russell.

Libraries can borrow 20-ish titles at a time (what will fit into 1 box) You will select the titles you want from a spreadsheet of available titles that we email you Libraries can borrow the collection for 2 months at a time, with 1 additional 2-month renewal allowed You are expected to display the collection--not just interfile it with your LP collection You will need to keep track of the circulations of the individual NHSL LP titles while you have them and report this information when you return the collection The collection needs to come back to NHSL as a set, in the box we sent it in	We currently have collections with the following themes: A Writer’s Life (biographies and novels about writers) Books for Young Readers Classics (“A classic is a book which has never exhausted all it has to say to its readers.” –Italo Calvino) Go West (novels, NF, and biography set in the American west) How Thrilling (thrillers) Love is in the Air (novels and NF about romantic relationships) Movie Stars (biographies and novels about the film industry; and related NF) Storytime (short stories and essays) War Stories (fact and fiction set in war time) Who Done It? Hampstead Public Library created a promotional poster for the collection and a collection sign which you are welcome to use to display NHSL Large Print Collections.
